So…it’s been awhile since I updated the ol’ blog. I’ll give you the condensed version of the last week:
My BFF, her little girl, and her baby bump came for a visit,
the four of us made the nearly 5-hour journey back to Nebraska on the back roads since I-29 was off limits,
Dash and I visited his grandparents, great-grandparents, and great- aunts, uncles, and cousins,
Dash had his first visit to the cabin,
his first visit to Valentino’s buffet,
and Zach came home! And then drove up to Nebraska after being awake for 24 hours to see his wife and son.
Then we made the half-day trek back to Kansas stopping for our first roadside picnic in Nebraska City,
and we have been recovering from the trip ever since.
It was not our traditional 4th of July celebration this year, but having Dash around is a fair trade. Last year we were sitting at the cabin watching the fireworks show and I was wondering if our little boy’s hearing could be damaged in utero. This year I had a fan and a white noise CD playing so loud he never heard a single firework, but may still have permanent hearing loss from the volume of my efforts to protect his sleep.
We are glad to be home and glad to have Zach back in the states.
